In 1855, Sigma Chi fraternity was founded at Miami University of Ohio. As one of the oldest, largest, and most prestigious fraternities, Sigma Chi’s fundamental purpose is the cultivation, maintenance and accomplishment of the ideals of friendship, justice and learning within our membership.

Chartered in 1872, as one of the original eight fraternities at the University of Georgia, Delta Chapter has become a symbol of excellence and pride. The success of Delta Chapter rests on the quality and integrity of its individual members. As such, the Delta Chapter of Sigma Chi takes only the finest men and then offers them a unique opportunity to expand their horizons and better themselves. Delta Chapter offers you, the maturing college student, the first step towards the lifelong search for excellence that embodies Sigma Chi.

Sigma Chi continues to thrive because of our campus involvement. The Delta Chapter has brothers involved in campus leadership activities including IFC, SGA, Arch Society, Sophomore Leader’s Circle, and The Foundation Fellow Program, as well as club and intramural sports teams. In addition to campus leadership, the Delta Chapter is also involved around the community through organizations such as Athens Boys and Girls Club, Athens PB&J, and Habitat for Humanity. Sigma Chi prides itself on an excellent social tradition as well. From gameday tailgates on the front lawn, date nights and band parties, Sweetheart Formal, and to the always anticipated Derby Days in the spring, Sigma Chi’s social calendar is full of fun and opportunity. Throughout its 150 years of tradition, Delta Chapter has and continues to offer a great place to achieve and experience academics, athletics, and brotherhood.
