The Eta Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Received Three Awards at Regional Conference
Last April, the Eta Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., proudly brought home three prestigious awards at the South Atlantic Regional Conference held in Orlando,FL. The conference, which brought together AKA chapters from Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina, served as a platform for discussing regional updates and honoring outstanding achievements at the chapter and individual levels. The conference was attended by Lauryn Sanders, Erin Brooks and Peyton Cherry.
During the highly anticipated undergraduate awards ceremony, Eta Xi stood out as a beacon of excellence, receiving three coveted regional awards that celebrated their dedication to service, innovation, and community connection. The awards bestowed upon the chapter were a testament to their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in their community.
1. Georgia Schank Innovative Award – The Eta Xi Chapter was honored with the Georgia Schank Innovative Award in recognition of their groundbreaking program, Fortune 1908. This innovative event brought together aspiring entrepreneurs and business enthusiasts for an educational event featuring an entrepreneurship panel, a dynamic business planning simulation, and a vibrant small business fair. The event featured entrepreneurs Kristen Johnson (Eta Xi Fall 2020), owner of Gently Soap and Rhondolyn Johnson, serial entrepreneur and was attended by 75 students. Fortune 1908 not only inspired the attendees, but also fostered a spirit of creativity and entrepreneurship within the community.
2. Tiffany Moore Russell Connection AKA Award – Eta Xi’s exceptional dedication to community service was celebrated through the Tiffany Moore Russell Connection AKA Award. This award highlighted the chapter’s outstanding program, Project Pup, where members devoted their time and effort to create sustainable and unique dog toys for the Athens Area Humane Society. This heartwarming initiative not only benefited the shelter animals but also showcased the chapter’s compassion and dedication to making a difference in the lives of animals and pet lovers in the community.
3. Marsha Lewis Brown Service Delivered Award (Runners Up) – In addition to the above accolades, the Eta Xi Chapter was recognized as runners-up for the Marsha Lewis Brown Service Delivered Award. This acknowledgment celebrated the chapter’s impactful service to youth, seniors, and families in the Athens area. Eta Xi’s commitment to creating meaningful and lasting relationships within the community was evident through their various outreach programs and initiatives.
