The department of Greek Life, in partnership with The Blood Connection, hosted the campus blood collection, inviting students to donate and support local and regional blood needs. UGA recorded 268 donors, including 223 completed donations, with 188 first-time donors and 80 returning donors.
Latin American students at the University of Georgia are few and far between. According to data from 2023, Hispanic or Latino students make up just about 5.8% of undergraduates and 5.6% of graduates at UGA. Despite this, students from Latin American backgrounds make their mark on campus in many ways.
On July 17, Children’s Miracle Network awarded UGA Miracle with the Excellence in Event Experience Award at their annual leadership conference held in Kansas City, MO. This award recognized UGA Greek Life student leaders’ work to shift their annual fundraising Dance Marathon event model from 24+ hours to 13.1 hours.
On Saturday, UGA Miracle announced it had raised $1,201,133.25 for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at its annual Dance Marathon. More than 2,000 students, faculty, staff and community members gathered in Stegeman Coliseum to celebrate one of the University of Georgia’s largest student-run organizations.
The University of Georgia’s National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) took center stage during halftime at the UGA men’s basketball game against LSU on Wednesday, February 5. Their captivating performance honored the legacy and cultural impact of NPHC organizations.
On Sunday, November 10th, the University of Georgia’s Greek Life Office hosted the 2024 Greek Awards Ceremony, bringing together chapter presidents, council members, officers, and advisors to celebrate the exceptional achievements of UGA’s four Greek councils and their members over the past year.
Joshua Welch, University of Georgia’s Greek Life Director has been elected to serve as the Association of Fraternity and Sorority Advisors (AFA) President for the 2025-2026 term. The upcoming Annual Meeting for AFA takes place in Indianapolis in December, where Welch will step into this role through 2026.
On October 9th, 2024, Alpha Phi hosted its annual “Mac & Phi’s” meal-on-the-lawn event, drawing over 800 attendees and raising more than $11,000 for the Alpha Phi Foundation.
On Oct. 6, eight students from the University of Georgia’s Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity traveled to the Augusta area to help with the storm recovery. They trimmed limbs, cleared yards and provided comfort and support.
This summer, the Gamma Pi chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) at the University of Georgia received major accolades at the 46th International Zeta Tau Alpha Convention for the 2022-2024 biennium.
