Greek Life demonstrates academic excellence

University of Georgia fraternity and sorority members excelled in the classroom in Fall 2017, attaining an average grade point average of 3.45. The mark is higher than the all-undergraduate average of 3.33, and represents a 4% increase over the past six years.

The nearly 7,500 Greek students at UGA are in the midst of an historic run of academic success with 12 consecutive semesters in which the overall Greek average GPA has increased over the previous semester.

The Panhellenic Council boasts a 3.52 average GPA among its membership of 4,970 students, the among the Greek councils, with Sigma Delta Tau (3.62), Alpha Chi Omega (3.61), Alpha Omicron Pi (3.61) and Delta Zeta (3.6) earning the highest GPA’s among all Greek organizations. 

In the Interfraternity Council, Sigma Phi Epsilon achieved the highest GPA with a 3.56. Delta Sigma Phi came in second with a Fall GPA of 3.52, followed by Alpha Epsilon Pi at 3.49.
